This adapter is useful in allowing a device with a L5-30 plug to connect to a L5-20 outlet. Please note there is no cover on the adapter, so it is not recommended that it be used in wet or damp conditions.

It is commonly used to connect a power inlet box with a L14-30 configuration to a generator without having to rewire the setup. The single 125V hot wire from the L5-30 configuration is split to provide power to both hot wires needed for the L14-30. Both the male plug and female connector are fully molded on this adapter.
